    What is D2E repowering?


    Diesel-to-Electric (D2E) repowering converts an existing diesel truck into a full battery electric vehicle (BEV) by:

    • Removing the internal combustion engine (ICE), fuel system, exhaust system, and transmission
    • Replacing them with a fully electric drivetrain, battery packs, and an electric motor

    Significant reduction of Total Cost of Operation

    2E Repowering allows fleets to capture the benefits of electric trucks  at a lower capital expense.

     Environmental Regulations 

    Governments are imposing stricter environmental regulations to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Many cities are implementing Low Emission Zones (LEZ) and plan to ban Diesel vehicles. ​

    Why should you repower your trucks?


     Modernisation without full replacement 

    Retrofit allows companies to upgrade their existing fleet without purchasing entirely new vehicles, which are up to 50% more expensive. New electric trucks have delivery times of 12-18 months.

     Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) 

    Many companies have sustainability or carbon reduction goals as part of their corporate strategy (ESG). Repowering to electric trucks helps to meet these targets because of its circular economy nature.

     Energy Cost savings 

    Battery Electric Trucks (BET) are with 1,1 kWh/km superior in energy efficiency vs a diesel truck (3 kWh/km). In addition diesel cost is increasing and ETS2 will add to its cost.The energy cost of an electric truck is about half of that of a diesel truck.

    The cost of electricity is indeed dependent on multiple parameters (sun, wind, time of day, gas,...) in which Energy Management systems can lead to cost saving 

     Access to incentives & subsidies 

    Zero emission trucks have a significantly lower road tax. Some governments offer financial incentives to facilitate the energy transition. 

     Reduced maintenance costs 

    Electric drivetrains have fewer moving parts compared to diesel engines, which translates to lower maintenance requirements. There is no need to change oil, exhaust system repairs, or engine related maintenance that come with a diesel vehicle.
